Beauty Buzz: Blow Dry Bars

Beauty Buzz
I know I’ve mentioned blow dry bars before, but it’s really turned into a total phenomenon in ahead-of-the-curb cites like Los Angeles and New York City. These bars are popping up in smaller cities around the US too. A typical blow out will cost you about $30. This usually includes a nice wash and a styled blow out. Most bars have a menu listing all of the different blow out styles you can get such as, straight, full, textured and so on.

You may be thinking “I can blow dry my own hair at home and for FREE. What’s the point?” Well, to be honest, it’s not just about getting your hair blow dried—it’s more about the experience and getting pampered in a relaxing spa-like place. It’s also a nice way to treat yourself (or someone else… a gift card for a blow out is always a nice gift) to a little luxury… But, the most important benefits of getting a blow out is the fact that since someone else is washing your hair—they can give your scalp and strands a seriously deep cleaning. Also, the round brush and technique salons use when blowing out your hair pulls the roots of your hair away from your scalp, which keeps your hair from getting oily fast. This will allow you to go much longer in between washes and it’s a good way to can give your hair a break from washing and heat styling for a few days (or in some cases, even a week). I really recommend getting a blow out every few months or so, just so you can take advantages of the health benefits for your hair.

Here are a few links to some popular blow dry bars that might have a location in your neck of the woods (a few of them are only LA-based though)…

Personally, I think these blow dry bars are really cool. I don’t think I would go get a blow out for no reason at all, but I do think they are great if you have a special occasion or maybe an even where you will be photographed. It’s also a fun idea for a birthday too… You can go with a few of your friends and then hit the town after!

For those of you who don’t live in LA or NYC, do you have a blow dry bar in your town? If so, share a link to your local blow dry bar in the comments below!
